This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was;

What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is stories food, clothes,traditions and dances 

Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.

In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentra\ed on Maori legends. I read maui and the sun I have written my own legend called/I retold the legend of maui and the sun.

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Reflection: 

For our production I contributed by  doing art  and background 

I think the show might impact on others by  making them care more about culture and stories 

What I learned about working with others was  you get the job and  in the end you're proud of yourself  

Family culture

Hi welcome back everybody to my blog im going to be talking about my culture.  I was born is Christchurch .NZ values are based around christian values .as a country we celebrate Easter and xmas .My  dadś family were early settlers to Canterbury , they planted the elm trees in front of the site that is now the Elms hotel in Papanui Road. At the time it was there house, which was nick named ¨The tea caddy"because of the large number of functions that were held there.  

.My mums family were amongst new zealand  first setlers coming in on two of the first four ships the Charlotte Jane and the Cressy.
 Our family culture includes having dinner together and spending our weekends together playing sport or seeing my grandparents.

how maui stoped the sun

In reading I have been wondering….

How can I deepen my understanding of what I have read through applying my own ideas to the story.

I read the story….. How maui slowed the sun

It was about…..  his brothers got ropes and pulled down the sun while they were doing that maui got his hook and started smacking him  with his hook

We then had to create a contraption to help Maui slowed the sun

This was my idea…  the trap was heavy so it  would not sun rise up

I chose to do this because….  So you do not get too close to the sun

Hi guys today im am going  talk to you about a  strategy that i have been learning  about its called place value partitioning its a really fun to use and easy for example 2454+5646= ?
add the thousands 2000+5000=7000 then hundreds 400+600= 1000 then 10s 40+50=90
then last the ones 4+6= 10 add all the answers together 7000+1000=8000    90+10= 100 = 9010. Whats your fave strategy ? see you later.
